I am looking for someone to alleviate some of my finishing backlog. Can you point me to someone who is reliable and does an outstanding job? In September I tried someone new (to me anyway). I was told it would take a certain amount of time. At the end of this time I was sent an invoice and told they would ship on receipt of payment. I sent payment immediately and the check cleared a few days later. It's been nearly seven weeks since I paid but I haven't seen my instruments. I have e-mailed once every two weeks and am told they will be shipped in the next couple of days. Is this typically what happens? Am I over concerned? I'm trying not to be pushy about it but I'm getting nervous. Is there anyone that delivers on time? |

I would be nervous - if the check cleared and your instruments are not shipped, either he wasn't done when he said he was, or your instruments are on ebay. That's what i would be thinking right about now. How do you have your guitars finished? Did you specify or was it up to the finisher? matte?, satin?, glossy? - oil on the neck? Where are you located? |

Four months late...I don't blame you for being nervous. And it seems like no good reason from what you say. This is bad IMO! PM me his name so I make sure I never use him! ![]() |

mgcain: I finish my instruments with a gloss body and peghead front and satin neck. so, that's what I have the finisher do. I'm located in AL. JJ: I don't want to hurt anyone's business. Something may have happened on his end so I am giving the benefit of the doubt. I just don't know what the deal is. |

I would like to know if there is a reputable finisher in the southeast also. Finishing is what really slows me down and although I get fair results, I would gladly let a pro finisher take over the task for a fair price. |

Call the cops and your bank I think your are being ripped off. If you don't get any satisfaction call the IRS. A good audit will clear a head in a hurry |

Ken, others... What would you consider a fair price for finishing? I do a lot of finishing, but thats not my primary business. I've seen finishing rates all over the board for furniture, cabinets, etc but haven't seen them for guitars. PM me off the forum if you want to discuss... I'm located in the Northeast, ...its a small world... but I wouldn't want to paint it! Mitch |
